Abstract

An apartment is a place to live in a building, equipped with various facilities, and is a public area inhabited by hundreds or even thousands of people. The security system in the apartment is not comfortable and safe, because of the condition of the apartment area that can be accessed by anyone as a fellow occupant (one area but in a different building). Based on the observations that have been made, one solution that can be done is to limit access to the apartment building. This access restriction can be done by dividing the entrance and adding boom barriers in each lane. The method used is a design method based on the results of observations. The design of this system considers the number of lanes, vehicle speed, and distance traveled. The speed used is in the range of 5 km/h and 20 km/h with a maximum distance of 27,081 m and a minimum distance of 9.998 m. The fastest travel time obtained is 1.799 s with a speed of 20 km/h and the slowest is 19.497 s with a speed of 5 km/h.

Abstract

The car door is one of the important components in a car, as a means of getting in and out of passengers and goods. This study aims to compare the factors of safety, strength, shear stress, and dimensional changes due to the received load, between car doors made of bamboo composite material and car doors made of aluminum. The research method is carried out in the form of simulating the load on the car door using Fusion Autodesk 360 software. The data used in this study is secondary data obtained from data analysis from journal articles related to bamboo and aluminum fiber composite materials. Strength simulation using loads of 100 N, 150 N, and 200 N refers to the strength simulation reference. Based on the simulation results, it can be concluded that the car door made of bamboo composite has good yield strength, safety factor, and shear strength and has the potential to be an alternative material to replace aluminum car doors, especially at low loads. The results of modeling using software with the above load, the safety factor values are in the range (10-15) and the displacement is in the range (3-4) mm. The results of this simulation become one of the references in further research and development.

Abstract

The muffler has a function to reduce loud and noisy sounds that come out of the exhaust gas manifold of motorized vehicles. One of the main components of the muffler part is the body inner. In producing the body inner, special machine tools are needed to assist the production process, such as cutting machines. The assembly and manufacturing processes have an important role in the development of the cutting machine products made in this research. This study aims to design a special cutting machine that can cut iron plate with the type of material SUS409L measuring 341 x 328.5 x 1, and the machine must be able to synchronize with the running press work. Product development is carried out using the Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) concept. The DFMA concept is related to the number of components, and assembly time. This research is expected to produce a cutting machine design that is in accordance with its function and considers aspects of manufacturing and assembly ease. The results of the design of the new cutting machine (HC21) product, the design efficiency value is 6.99% with a total of 23 components. While the Old Cutting Machine design (K56A) is 6.08% with 32 components. The results of this new design can reduce 9 components and increase assembly efficiency by 0.91%.

Abstract

The need for animal feed in Indonesia is very high because of the increasing demand for processed meat. And one of the reasons is also due to the government's program to meet Indonesia's food security to reduce dependence on meat imports. To support this, animal feed is one of the key factors to improve the quality of livestock. The feed mixer machine is a solution to make it easier for breeders to mix the feed mixture. With this machine will cut costs and production time for farmers to produce the feed. The result obtained is design data in the form of machine images using Solidwork software. The frame of this machine uses hollow 1023 Carbon Steel Sheet 40 × 40 mm with a thickness of 2 mm and the body of this machine uses ASTM A36 Steel material thickness of 2 mm. The overall dimensions of this engine are 1400 mm long, 665 mm wide and 1133 mm.

Abstract

Sewer pipe water turbines are made with the aim of helping the development of new renewable energy in Indonesia. Pipe water turbines utilize unused liquid waste and convert it into electricity. In this turbine certainly has a shaft, where the shaft certainly requires bearings / bearings. Bearing is one of the components that play a role in keeping the engine shaft to keep rotating on its axis and other components on its path. An example of bearing use is in turbines. The purpose of this study is to determine the calculation of stress in bearings caused by static loads or forces exerted slowly on bearings on pipe water turbine shaft. The static load used is 30 N with AISI 304 bearing material. From the results of static stress analysis simulation obtained the maximum voltage bearing results in withstanding static loads on pipe flow water turbines.

Abstract

Beverage cans is a sheet coated of steel with tin (Sn). It is a steel sheet container coated with thin white tin that has a content value of 1.00% to 1.25% of the total weight of that can. The method used in this design is to make a truss design using special design software then determine the constituent materials and dimensions of the truss then do a strength analysis of the truss. The purpose of this design is to determine the maximum strength of the press machine truss that can be accepted with a certain force. This design starts from making a truss design with dimensions of length, width, and height are 260 mm, 100 mm, and 500 mm, respectively. The result obtained from this design are that the bending moment obtained is 43.8 MPa, the total moment of inertia is 38,286.9 mm4, the maximum stress in the truss is 23 MPa while the allowable stress according to the frame material made of Hollow iron is 124 MPa.

Abstract

Calibration is needed to ensure that the measuring instrument works according to existing standards. The ability to calibrate measuring instruments is very necessary in the engineering world, especially calibration of temperature measuring instruments due to the importance of measuring temperature in the field of mechanical engineering. The purpose of this practical work report is to operate the Armfield TH1-Temperature Measurement and Calibration tool properly, investigate the thermometric properties of various temperature measuring instruments, also determine the response received by the device to changes in temperature. In testing the thermometric properties, using PT100 REF as a reference for other temperature measuring instruments. Thermistor Reading is the most accurate because it has the smallest difference with the PT100 REF compared to other measuring instruments. Thermistor Reading produces an average temperature difference of 0.036°C compared to PT100 REF. In testing the response of temperature sensors, the response given by the thermocouple temperature gauge is quite good both in the water bath and in the flask. When the thermocouple was transferred to the flask quickly, the temperature only ranged from 2.38°C to 4.05°C with a temperature change of 1.67°C, which means that the temperature measurement is quite stable when in the flask.
